Driver/operator
General Responsibilities:
Report to work on time and in the proper uniform (if supplied) as outlined in the Employee Handbook Maintain a strong attendance record Maintain and possess a current, valid drivers license of the appropriate class, with at least a P endorsement, as well as a current, valid Medical Examination Card when on duty Perform pre/post inspections as required every time utilizing a bus At the end of each run, ensure the bus is refueled, free of all trash, swept, mopped and a new requirement due to COVID-19, disinfect bus after each use. If needed, top off with Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) for diesel buses. Time is built in each drivers schedule for bus refueling, cleaning & disinfecting. Maintain contact with dispatch via radio, and do not engage in any non-operational radio chatter. Examples include, but are not limited to, discussions about the weather, vacation plans, jokes, or general conversation that has nothing to do with our services Be knowledgeable of the Rules of the Bus, and be prepared and able to deal with unruly passengers in a firm, but professional manner Be able to drive any vehicle in our fleet in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the service area within a daily assigned time schedule Possess a functional knowledge of all routes within the service area Possess excellent customer service skills, and the ability to advise passengers of route information and rules of the bus as needed Announce current stops, and next destinations Notify dispatch of delays, route deviations, overload, accidents, incidents, or any other information potentially affecting the operation of our transit system Notify management of any traffic convictions or changes to your license or medical status Refrain from engaging in any controversial conversation, or voicing any job-related complaints to passengers or fellow employees Ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines Recognize and understand that in times of inclement weather, it is rare that CCPT services will be cancelled. It is your duty in times like these to report to work early to allow sufficient time to clean off your bus, and begin your route on time, unless told otherwise by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager Possess the ability to read, write, and speak English, and perform basic mathematical procedures Assist with the boarding and departure of passengers using a variety of mobility devices, to include wheel chair securementApply in person: or call/emmail
