About the role

With our recent expansion to the US, we’re offering this hugely exciting opportunity to be part of the team charged with disrupting the US retirement industry. We're looking for someone driven and passionate about using design to improve people's lives, that’s able to thrive in a fast paced start-up environment. You'll be an end-to-end Product Designer embedded within a cross-functional, cross-locational team, owning problems from discovery through to high quality UI. You’ll combine strong product thinking and visual craft with hands-on UX research. You’ll use Figma to design and prototype, and tools like ContentSquare to generate user insights and funnel analysis to inform decisions and experiments. This is an opportunity to join a high-growth startup, make a significant impact on our customer’s experience, and be part of a team that's transforming the retirement savings landscape.

You’ll work closely with our Chief Design Officer, Head of UX and Head of Product US and partner closely with our UK Design Team, utilising our global system, while evolving a US focused customer experience, instilling our customers with the trust and clarity they need for their retirement decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product design for core product features (onboarding/eligibility, rollover & transfer, contributions, withdrawals, analysis tools and planners).

  • Lead mixed-methods discovery (problem framing, opportunity sizing) and translate insights into clear hypotheses and product bets.

  • Plan and run UX research : customer interviews, usability tests, surveys, synthesize findings into actionable artifacts (personas, journey maps, opportunity trees).

  • Uncover behavioural insights: Leverage ContentSquare to build dashboards, analyze journeys and drop-offs, segment cohorts, identify friction points, and propose experiments (with support from our UXR team).

  • Prototype in Figma (low-to-high fidelity) and validate quickly with users and stakeholders.

  • Partner with engineering to scope, spec, and ship; contribute to flows, consider edge-cases, interaction states and QA.

  • Design system stewardship : contribute components, tokens, patterns; document usage and accessibility guidance.

  • Accessibility : design to WCAG 2.2 AA, collaborate on inclusive content and interaction patterns.

  • Experimentation & metrics : define success metrics, collaborate on tests, and iterate based on qualitative + quantitative signals.

  • Cross-team collaboration : work closely with PM, Ops and Customer Service to ensure clarity, trust, and regulatory suitability.

  • Champion simplicity and transparency: deliver high quality user interfaces that distill complex problems down to accessible journeys and features.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have an appropriate combination of the following:

Core skills

  • 2+ years in Product Design (or similar), shipping web and mobile experiences end-to-end.

  • Mastery of Figma (auto-layout, variants, prototyping, design tokens) and comfort facilitating in FigJam.

  • Demonstrated UX research capability: planning, moderating, analysis, and storytelling.

  • Comfortable with journey/funnel analysis, heatmaps, zoning, and segment insights (or strong aptitude to ramp fast).

  • Solid grasp of product analytics; ability to define metrics, read dashboards, and make data-informed decisions.

  • Excellent interaction and visual design craft: hierarchy, typography, spacing, states, motion, micro-interactions.

  • Strong systems thinking: component libraries, patterns, and scalable design documentation.

  • Accessibility knowledge (WCAG 2.2 AA) and designing for inclusive, compliant experiences.

  • Clear, concise communication and storytelling with stakeholders at many levels.

Domain & collaboration

  • Experience designing financial or other trust-sensitive products (regulated environments a plus).

  • Familiarity with US retirement concepts (IRAs, rollovers/transfers, tax considerations) or a keen interest to learn quickly.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements and tight feedback loops.

  • Strong partner to PM and Engineers: collaborative discovery, crisp scoping, pragmatic trade-offs, and on-time delivery.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive clarity from ambiguity.

Nice to have

  • Experience with experimentation tooling.

  • Content design aptitude (plain-English microcopy for simplicity and clarity).

  • Motion design for feedback and comprehension (Lottie or native motion).

  • Exposure to security/privacy and legal/compliance best practices in consumer fintech.

What great looks like (qualities)

  • Customer-obsessed : starts with real problems and measures outcomes, not output.

  • Pragmatic decision-maker : balances elegant solutions with realistic delivery.

  • Insight-driven : blends qual research with quant signals from feedback and analytics.
