Job Summary:

Come join the Experience Staff at Mount Van Hoevenberg! You will get to oversee a diverse range of Mount Van Hoevenberg’s products and services. At Mount Van Hoevenberg, we offer Nordic Skiing, Mountain Biking, and Rock Climbing as the primary activities for recreation sport. On the Experience Staff, you get to facilitate all three of these realms by maintaining the rock wall, servicing the various rental gear, keeping up on trail work, and offering lessons in skiing and biking. We also get the chance to be in the ‘field of play’, setting up and taking down courses for various races held at the venue. This position offers a wide range of experiences to the employee in a dynamic and fast paced manner.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Primary duties shift from season to season. Throughout the winter season responsibilities are teaching cross country ski lessons, maintaining the climbing wall, assisting in the rental shop and supporting the discover biathlon program. Summer and fall seasons include a different variety of programing including mountain bike lessons and rental maintenance, discover luge in addition to the climbing wall and discover biathlon.

Minimum Qualifications : You will fit this role if you have experience in at least one of these aforementioned sports (climbing, Nordic skiing, mountain biking), and are willing to learn what you may not be as experienced in. Also, this is a very people facing role. If you are looking to make friends and tell jokes to a refreshed audience regularly, this is the spot for you!

Wage/Salary :

This position is identified as a Grade 13 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of $19.96 per hour. The Olympic Authority offers an excellent benefits package that includes paid leave (sick, vacation, and personal time), paid holidays, health, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems, and participation in NYS Deferred Compensation, as defined under the CSEA contract.
