Job Type: Full-time, school-year contract Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM. Mandatory 45-minute unpaid lunch. 7 paid hours per day. Pay: $17.00/hour

About the Role

US Medical Staffing is hiring a 1:1 Aide to support a student at a charter school in Hempstead. The student has an IEP that includes a Behavior Intervention Plan, and the aide will work one-on-one with them throughout the school day.

This is a hands-on role. The aide must be physically able to engage with the student during community walks, movement breaks, and other activities outlined in the BIP.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to an assigned student throughout the school day
• Help implement strategies from the student's Behavior Intervention Plan under the direction of the school team
• Accompany the student on community walks and movement breaks
• Help the student stay engaged and on task in the classroom
• Communicate clearly with teachers and support staff
• Maintain student confidentiality consistent with FERPA

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to clear NYSED fingerprint clearance through IdentoGO (one-time, approximately $104.50 paid by candidate)
• Ability to provide a current TB screening (PPD or QuantiFERON within the last 12 months) prior to start
• Mandated Reporter / Child Abuse Identification training (2-hour NYSED-approved course) prior to start
• Physically able to walk, stand, and actively engage with the student throughout the school day, including community walks

Preferred

• Prior experience in special education, behavioral support, or 1:1 student support
• CPR / BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, or equivalent)
• CPI or other de-escalation training
• 60+ college credits or ParaPro Assessment (some districts require this)
• Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Mandarin)
