Event Director
The Director of Private Events for this Michelin-level restaurant group oversees the entire events business, combining high-level sales and strategic development with impeccable execution. They are responsible for driving significant revenue growth while ensuring every private event reflects the restaurant's prestigious brand and meticulous service standards.
Position summary
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the financial health and operational excellence of the restaurant group's private events and private dining program. The Director develops and executes a comprehensive events strategy, builds and maintains key client relationships, and oversees all aspects of event sales, planning, and service execution across multiple venues. A deep understanding of luxury hospitality, financial management, and fine dining operations is essential.
Core responsibilities
Business development and sales
- Create and implement a strategic sales plan to meet and exceed annual revenue goals for private events.
- Proactively identify and cultivate new business opportunities by networking with corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and industry partners.
- Develop and grow relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business and long-term loyalty.
- Generate, pursue, and close new business opportunities, including large-scale social and corporate events, while maximizing profitability.
Event planning and execution
- Manage the event process from initial inquiry to execution.
- Serve as the main contact for high-profile clients, creating customized luxury experiences.
- Lead meetings with different teams to ensure coordination.
- Collaborate with the culinary team and sommeliers on menus and beverage pairings.
- Be present at events to host clients and ensure a seamless experience.
Financial management and administration
- Develop and manage the budget, including sales forecasting and cost controls.
- Maintain accurate event records using software like TripleSeat.
- Negotiate vendor contracts.
- Conduct post-event evaluations.
Leadership and team management
- Lead and mentor the events team, focusing on sales and service skills.
- Set goals and manage team performance.
- Ensure the team maintains high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety.
- Recruit, train, and inspire staff.
Candidate qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in event sales and planning in luxury hospitality.
- Track record: Proven success in increasing event revenue and building client relationships.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills for managing a team.
- Sales skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a client focus.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office.
- Aptitude: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
- Availability: Must work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
