POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking an intermediate level Systems, Network and Support Engineer to assist in the administration of the IT function of its lower Manhattan campus. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary career dreams and we’re looking for a Systems, Network and Support Engineer with a hands-on approach who is eager to make a meaningful contribution to our IT intense operation.
The Systems, Network and Support Engineer is a key member of our nimble IT department and will serve the function of a helpdesk, network and telecom generalist. This role supports the stability, security, and day-to-day IT operations of the organization’s IT infrastructure primarily on Windows, M365 and VMWare platform.
Experience supporting systems in Anthology/CampusVue and M365 preferred.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helpdesk/Technical support:
- Troubleshooting computer hardware, software, applications, and network connectivity.
- Diagnosing and resolving problems by walking users through step-by-step solutions.
- Monitoring, and updating end user issues, escalating to Tier-2/Tier-3 support when necessary.
- New user setups. User and Hardware setup and deployment. Performing password resets, unlocking accounts, and managing user access.
- Telephone and unified communication system administration.
- Participate in ICE’s security policy and procedures and incident response.
- Deploying, configuring, and updating software and hardware components.
- Creating user guides and documenting solutions.
- Support periodic on call responsibilities in support of 24 X 7 environment.
Server/Network support:
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments to ensure system availability (ie patch management, performance and security upgrades).
- Design, implement, and support hybrid Active Directory/Entra services, including domain architecture, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and M365 management.
- Ownership of user onboarding and offloading.
- Administer and manage M365 Exchange and SharePoint.
- Administer and troubleshoot enterprise Dell switches and Fortinet firewalls.
- Administer and troubleshoot IIS, SQL servers, including SSL certificate renewals etc.
- Administer and troubleshoot Dell SAN.
- Monitor a variety of backups including: NinjaOne DropSuite, Veeam and BackupExec.
- Scripting or automating tasks with PowerShell scripts.
Other Duties:
- Troubleshooting our internal student information system Anthology with software developers or support vendor engineers.
- Troubleshoot and support of ICE’s AV systems
Required Qualifications:
- 3 – 7 years of IT experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure support roles
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud)
- Working knowledge of Windows server administration
- Basic to intermediate understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
- Demonstrated security awareness in day-to-day system administration
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with external service providers
