Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Hauppaugue, New York. This role focuses on managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate records, and supporting monthly accounting processes. Responsibilities: - Review and audit general ledger entries and subaccount transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance. - Assist with monthly closing processes, ensuring all necessary entries are completed in a timely manner. - Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable entries, including posting and reviewing transactions. - Perform monthly closings for small real estate holding companies, maintaining accurate financial records. - Audit project-related transactions such as purchase orders, invoices, payments, and shipping documents to ensure proper posting. - Verify inventory and payment records, ensuring all project-related financial activities are accurately documented. - Support tax-related processes, including corporate and sales tax compliance. - Ensure journal entries are properly recorded and adhere to accounting standards. - Collaborate with team members to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency. Requirements - Experience with corporate tax processes, including preparation and filing of tax returns. - Proficiency in managing sales tax compliance and reporting. - Strong knowledge of general ledger systems and journal entry processes. - Previous experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable management. - Ability to audit and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and completeness. - Familiarity with monthly closing procedures and reporting requirements. - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. - Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within a team.
