While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

• Team/ Role:
  Sitting within Platform PG, the Identity Verification (IDV) team operates Coinbase's centralized identity verification platform, delivering the most trusted forms of customer identity verification in a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly way. IDV is critical to Coinbase's compliance posture (KYC/AML) and security posture (ensuring the person accessing an account is the legitimate account holder). This role will own the end-to-end IDV platform, including vendor integrations, document capture SDKs, decisioning logic, fraud detection, and the platformization roadmap that enables seamless adoption by any Coinbase product.
  What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):
  
  
  • Own the end-to-end Identity Verification platform strategy, roadmap, and execution
  • Drive platformization efforts to enable CUJ owners to configure IDV requirements, decision rules, and vendor preferences self-serve
  • Manage vendor relationships and optimize routing across IDV vendors (Onfido, Au10tix, Persona, etc.) to maximize success rates, minimize fraud, and optimize costs
  • Lead initiatives to combat synthetic fraud and AI-generated identity attacks through new detection features, challenges, and e-ID integrations
  • Deliver composable IDV components (document collection, liveness, facematch, motion) that can operate independently for various CUJs
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Risk, Compliance, and CX to deliver world-class IDV experiences
  • Define and track key metrics including IDV success rates, fraud rates, P90 processing time, and contact rates
  • Build and ship developer-friendly APIs, SDKs, testbench tooling, and observability to accelerate product team integrations
  What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
  
  
  • 7+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in Identity, Verification, Trust & Safety, or adjacent domains
  • Experience building and scaling platform products with self-serve configuration, APIs, and SDKs
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to partner effectively with engineering on complex backend systems and vendor integrations
  • Experience with vendor management, including performance evaluation, contract negotiation, and multi-vendor routing optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities across fraud prevention, user experience, and cost optimization
  • Strong analytical skills with experience defining and tracking success metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (fintech, payments, or similar)
  Nice to haves:
  
  
  • Experience with document verification, biometrics, liveness detection, or e-ID technologies
  • Experience with ML-powered fraud detection or synthetic identity detection
  • Crypto, blockchain, or fintech experience
  • Experience with international market expansion and geo-specific compliance requirements

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).


Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):


$207,485-$244,100 USD
