About the Role

Groma is seeking a NYC City Lead to help build and implement our real estate investments and property operations presence in the New York City region.

On the investments side, this role will be part of Groma’s acquisitions team and will support transaction activity across acquisitions, dispositions, and financing at both the deal and partnership levels. The City Lead’s primary responsibility will be sourcing, underwriting, negotiating, and closing small to mid-market multifamily and mixed-use properties in the New York City region.

On the property operations side, this role will help establish Groma’s local operating presence, ensuring that newly acquired assets are transitioned effectively into Groma’s operating platform. This includes coordinating with property management, leasing, maintenance, construction, asset management, finance, legal, and technology teams to support strong property performance and excellent resident outcomes.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who can operate independently while working closely with acquisitions, property operations, legal, finance, construction, and technology teams across Groma. The ideal candidate is both commercially strong and operationally practical: someone who can source and close deals, understand building-level realities, and help launch a new market with urgency, discipline, and ownership.

  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance or safety issues
  • Coordinate maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution
  • Manage emergency service coordination and generate incident reports when necessary
  • Ensure properties are maintained to a high standard and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations

  • Handle resident inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Support marketing and leasing efforts for available units
  • Coordinate resident onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Assist with delinquency follow-up and coordination of collections efforts
  • Support eviction processes in partnership with leadership and legal counsel

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong ownership mentality and willingness to operate at both the strategic and tactical levels.

About our Culture

At Groma, we’re looking to build something big and are on a very fast growth trajectory. While a healthy work-life balance is important to our team, we want to be upfront that there may be times when we expect commitments outside of the standard 9-5. We strive to respect individuals and their needs, while also acknowledging the reality that we have a small team that is trying to accomplish some very ambitious goals in a short period of time.

We believe in the importance of interpersonal interactions and focus on a strong in-office culture. Our global HQ is in Boston, with a wonderful office that this role will work out of from time-to-time. As we expand to new markets, like New York, we’ll seek to build engaging office spaces in each Groma city. That process will naturally take some time as we scale up in each market. To start, our primary base in NYC will be a co-working space, practical, flexible, and a great home base as we grow our presence in the market. Our goal is to ensure that all of our North East offices feel genuinely connected, Boston-based team members will spend time working out of New York as needed, and we hope you'll take advantage of HQ whenever it's useful, whether for team gatherings, company events, or just a change of scenery.

We have an ever-evolving list of values and conventions that guide how we operate as a company, but here’s a high-level overview of how we think about doing what we do:

  • We’re committed to building an inclusive, equal opportunity, anti-discriminatory workplace that reflects the diversity of people and cultures that live, work, and play in the communities we seek to serve.

  • We approach our work with pragmatic idealism that enables us to focus on our desire to make the world a better place in ways big and small while also being open to intelligent compromises that accelerate us on our path to serve our broader societal goals.

  • Our whole team believes strongly in a value we shorthand as Justice League, not Superman. The challenges we are trying to solve require effective teams, not individual heroes. (Note: Yes… we are aware that Superman has been a member of the Justice League for quite some time now, but the analogy here is an easy, yet powerful, one for people to grasp. We don’t need a hero, we need a collaborative team of heroes who each bring something unique to the table to help solve problems that any of us individually would find daunting.)

  • Eligibile for long term incentive programs

  • 5% 401k match
