Compensation

• Hourly Pay Rate: $26–$34/hr

• Job Title: Surgical Technologist – Hospital Setting
• Location: Rochester, Michigan 48307 (Detroit metro area)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Surgery Department
• Employment Type: Travel Contract
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: January 3, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 16 weeks
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm (8-hour evening shifts)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shifts per Week: 5 shifts per week

Surgical Technologist Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within one month of start date)
• Physical ability to lift, move, push, and pull patients, case carts, instrument trays, and equipment
• Ability to work in a clinical environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials
• Prolonged standing and walking required
• At least 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Scrub on general surgical procedures and assist the operating room team
• Prepare the operating room by setting up tables, surgical instruments, and sterile supplies
• Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment; report repairs as needed
• Follow hospital policies, safety protocols, environmental, and infection control standards
• Demonstrate cost-consciousness in the use of sterile supplies and instrument care
• Respond to emergent situations according to established healthcare procedures
• Deliver supplies to surgical units and ancillary hospital departments
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized operating room environment
• Provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients, respecting privacy and confidentiality
• Participate in ongoing education, audit monitors, and department task forces
• Assist Registered Nurses (RN) in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients from the OR
• Train and precept new Surgical Technologist employees as needed
• Perform other surgical tech duties as assigned
