Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Emergency Department (Night Shift)

Location: Syracuse, NY

Assignment Type: Travel Contract

Duration: 14 Weeks

Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 12-hour shifts | 3 shifts per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with strong pediatric emergency experience for a full-time night shift position in a busy emergency department. The ideal candidate will bring advanced triage skills, a calm demeanor under pressure, and proven experience caring for pediatric patients in an acute or trauma hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced hospital environment.

• Conduct triage assessments using formal triage training to prioritize patient care efficiently.

• Collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions in accordance with clinical protocols.

• Float as required to other emergency units within the facility.

• Accurately document all patient care using electronic medical record systems.

• Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and hospital quality standards.

Qualifications

• License: Active RN license in the State of New York (or compact state eligibility).

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric emergency experience (within the past 2 years) in a comparable acute care facility.

• Certifications:

  • Current BLS certification (must be eligible for renewal).

  • TNCC or TCRN required.

  • Pediatric Triage Training required.

• Preferred Skills: Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers and with EPIC EMR .

• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must have a clean professional record—no license suspensions, investigations, or liability claims.

• Must pass all pre-employment screenings, including health clearance, background check, and drug screening.

Schedule & Shift Details

• Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Hours per Week: 36

• Rotation: Every other weekend and some holidays required

• Floating: May float to other emergency departments within the facility
