Brand Consultant (Contract)

SkillCat is relaunching our brand to match the boldness of our mission: rebuilding trade education. We need a Brand Consultant who's led edgy, challenger-brand relaunches and knows how to turn raw authenticity into strategy.

If you've worked with brands like Liquid Death, Duolingo, or similar disruptors—we want to meet you.

The Role

This isn't an agency job.

We need a hands-on strategist to lead our brand relaunch from research through post-launch—while our internal team executes under your direction. You'll own the process, guide the structure, join key conversations, and push us beyond what we'd do alone.

What You'll Do

Lead the full relaunch: discovery, research, strategy, launch, and reflection
Design and oversee research—structure interviews, join sessions, analyze insights
Guide brand strategy, voice, visual direction, messaging, and positioning
Create timelines and keep our team on track
Advise on external launch strategy across content and paid media
Challenge assumptions and push us to build something unapologetic

Who You Are

Experienced brand strategist who's led relaunches for disruptive brands
Ideally, you've worked with blue-collar, trades, or vocational audiences
Research-driven—you know how to uncover human truths that fuel great brands
Hands-on—no hiding behind jargon or agencies

Clear process documentation for future brand work
Internal alignment across teams
