Preschool Lead Teacher

Congregation Beth Elohim Early Childhood Center, a progressive preschool with two sites in Park Slope and Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, is seeking a talented, warm and experienced lead teacher for a preschool classroom. Founded in 1978 Congregation Beth Elohim Early Childhood Center is dedicated to providing young children with an environment that nurtures their growth, intellect and self-esteem. We believe children are competent and naturally curious learners who possess a strong disposition to explore and discover. Our curriculum emerges from the children’s interests, ideas and experiences and allows them ample opportunities to interact, problem solve, express their thoughts and ideas and reflect on their learning.

The Head Teacher is responsible for the education, including academic as well as social-emotional development, of all the children in their class. Head Teachers plan, organize and implement a developmentally appropriate program in a learning environment that guides and encourages children to grow in all of the developmental domains. The Head Teacher is the team leader in the classroom and mentors their Assistant Teachers providing continuing feedback, guidance and opportunities for growth. The Head Teacher partners with parents and caregivers to promote the well being of each child. The Head Teacher is responsible for contributing to the effective operation of the overall program.

This is a full time position and the candidate must hold a NYS teaching certification (or study plan eligible for certification). The candidate must be open to a diverse teaching environment, and be a cooperative and collaborative teammate.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
