Team Captain
Job Description
The White Moustache, a Brooklyn-based artisanal yogurt maker, is looking for two energetic production based team captains to lead our teams through their day-to-day creation of our yogurts and related products. Your role is to uphold our unwavering commitment to creating the finest possible handmade yogurt for our New York City community.
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Full Time 6am to 5pm (4 days), 2 shifts available.
- Shift 1: Sunday to Wednesday
- Shift 2: Wednesday to Saturday
Hourly Rate: $25/hour
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The production Team Capitan will lead and work alongside an assigned team through the daily creation of an artisanal food product to ensure smooth operations, adherence to strict compliance rules and processes, as well as efficient completion of day-to-day projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with hiring and training of team members.
- Oversee the daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments of the assigned team.
- Adjust daily shift roles based on call outs and absentees.
- Fill out daily reports and checklists.
- Ensures quality of food product at all stages.
- Maintains high sanitation standards.
- Instruct production team on roles and shift duties daily.
- Maintain excellence in production team process.
- Interact with monthly Ag& Markets inspectors for sample pick-ups.
- Ensure that the equipment is available, clean, and in proper working order.
- Lead team in conducting daily safety checks on equipment.
- Keep team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.
- Maintain detailed and accurate work records.
- Request new or replacement tools, supplies, or equipment, as needed, for production.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent management and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of sanitation practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate team to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to solve conflicts among coworkers.
- Ability to remain organized.
- Basic understanding of records, inventories, and other routine documentation used in production
- Thorough understanding of food production procedures and regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- At least two years of related Kitchen, Bakery, Food management work experience required.
- At least one year of supervisory job duties specific to managing a team is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Stand for 8+ hours straight
- Basic tech comprehension and usage
- Excellent time management and organization
