Registered Nurse,
This Registered Nurse position requires a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting, focusing on complex medical-surgical patients, including those requiring orthopaedic overflow care and long-term management. The role demands proficiency in various clinical skills and the ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7, with experience in a 1:6 ratio required. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and utilizing electronic health records (Epic). A current New York Registered Nurse license is mandatory.

Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.
- Managing a patient load with a ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 (1:6 experience required).
- Performing a wide range of clinical procedures, including medication administration, wound care, IV starts, central line management, blood product administration, and management of various medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, feeding tubes, ventilators, tracheostomies).
- Utilizing electronic health records (Epic) for documentation and communication.
- Collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitoring patients on telemetry and responding to rapid response/code situations.
- Performing phlebotomy and managing peripheral and PICC lines.
- Applying knowledge of isolation precautions and managing surgical drains.
- Administering oxygen therapy via various methods (e.g., nasal cannula, HFNC, oxygen masks).
- Demonstrating proficiency in orthopaedic trauma and total joint replacement care.
- Managing patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring long-term care.
- Working every other weekend.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current New York Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of two years of hospital experience in medical-surgical nursing.
- Experience managing a 1:6 patient ratio.
- Proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, including telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code team participation, and management of various medical devices.
- BLS certification.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Epic electronic health records.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with a higher patient ratio (1:5 or 1:7).
- Experience in a tertiary care hospital setting.
Special Considerations:
- Must have a current New York Registered Nurse license in hand.
- Candidates must be proficient in Epic.
- Every other weekend work schedule is required.
- The facility is a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds.
- The unit is a complex care unit for medicine, orthopaedic overflow, and complex long-term patients.
