Camp Nurse (LPN or RN)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Camp Nurses (Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse) for Sunshine Camp and Camp Haccamo, to provide exceptional healthcare support in a dynamic camp environment. This vital role involves delivering comprehensive medical care, managing acute and chronic health issues, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers and staff. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to health management, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a team-oriented setting. Dates are as follows:
Sunshine Camp week 1 (ages 7-15) Sunday July 5 -Friday July 10 (MUST commit to full week and be available 7/5 12pm-9pm and 7/6, 7/7, 7/8. 7/9 either 7am-3pm or 3pm-9pm or entire day 7am-9pm)
Sunshine Camp week 2 (ages 16-21) Sunday July 12 - Friday July 17 (MUST commit to full week and be available 7/12 12pm-9pm and 7/13, 7/14 7/15, 7/16 either 7am-3pm or 3pm-9pm or entire day 7am-9pm)
Camp Haccamo week 1 (ages 7-18) Monday July 27 - Friday July 31 (MUST commit to full week and be available 7/27 7am-4pm and 7/28, 7/29, 7/30 either 7am-3pm or 3pm-9pm or entire day 7am-9pm )
Camp Haccamo week 2 (ages 19-30) Monday August 3 - August 7 (MUST commit to full week and be available 8/3 7am-4pm and 8/4, 8/5, 8/6 either 7am-3pm or 3pm-9pm or entire day 7am-9pm )
**PAY PER WEEK VARIES BASED ON HOURS WORKED and will be discussed during interview**
Duties
- Provide immediate first aid and emergency response for injuries or illnesses among campers and staff, utilizing aseptic technique and trauma medicine principles.
- Administer medications, diabetic care, seizure protocol, tube feedings, and specialized treatments, following strict medical documentation and HIPAA guidelines.
- Conduct physical examinations, vital signs assessments, and health screenings to monitor camper health status regularly.
- Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes or asthma, including medication administration, treatment planning, and patient education.
- Participate in triage assessments to prioritize urgent care needs effectively while working with individuals across age groups from pediatrics to adults.
Qualifications
- Valid LPN or RN license with current NYS licensure; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Proficient in medication administration.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform diabetic care, ostomy care, tube feeding management, catheterization and sterile processing procedures confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; compassionate approach when working with children and adults alike.
- Flexibility to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations involving trauma medicine or acute pain management.
Pay: $600.00 - $1,200.00 per week
