CNC Grinder Operator

Job Title: CNC Grinder Operator Location: Bethpage, NY Pay: $28-34/hr Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Schedule: M-F 7:30am - 4:00pm OR 6:00pm - 2:00am A Grinder Operator job in Bethpage, NY is currently accepting applications. This is a contract-to-hire position with our key manufacturing client. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating precision grinding machines to manufacture high-quality components while ensuring all parts meet blueprint specifications and quality standards. To be considered for this role, you will have 1-3 years of grinding or machining experience, the ability to interpret blueprints, and experience using precision measuring equipment. Grinder Operator Job Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate grinding machines including external, internal, surface, centerless, cylindrical, thread, jig, CNC universal, and CNC cylindrical grinders.
• Read blueprints, job orders, and work instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling requirements, grinding speeds, and feed rates.
• Mount and dress grinding wheels according to specifications and production requirements.
• Set machine controls for grinding speed, feed rate, wheel angle, depth of cut, and stroke length.
• Load, position, and secure workpieces using chucks, magnetic fixtures, faceplates, clamps, and hoists as required.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, preset gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Measure workpieces before and after grinding to verify dimensional accuracy and required material removal.
• Monitor machine performance, make adjustments as needed, and maintain proper coolant flow throughout the grinding process.
• Complete inspection documentation and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area while following all quality and manufacturing procedures.

Grinder Operator Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of grinding, machining, or precision manufacturing experience.
• Experience operating one or more grinding machines, including surface, cylindrical, centerless, internal, or CNC grinders.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Knowledge of grinding wheel selection, wheel dressing, machine setup, and inspection procedures.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail with the ability to maintain tight tolerances.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments is a plus.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
