Your impact

In this Manager of Projects (MoP) position for Northeast Transportation, Ports & Maritime, you’d directly supervise Project Managers (PMs) and be an integral part of our Northeast Transportation leadership team.

In this role you’ll use your strong inspirational leadership skills to providing mentoring and career development for the project managers and design managers in your portfolio of projects and aligned PMs. This will include coaching and improving skills in scoping and budgeting of projects, project execution, and overall client management and satisfaction. You will promote inclusion and diversity within the project teams in their portfolio. Ultimately you will be developing an environment for the PM’s financial and professional success.

You’ll use your passion for focusing on staff management (for PMs) and a desire to focus on helping our PMs to deliver successful solutions for our clients. You’ll also be involved in working with Client Account Managers (CAMs) and capture teams, participating in various sales activities such as go/no-go’s, teaming strategies, pricing strategy, Global Integrated Design (GID) resource strategy, and middle/end game activities for strategic pursuits. The MOP role will transcend from pre-tender to full project delivery and will include delivery and risk governance throughout the process.

Along with the Group Leaders (GLs) and CAMs and our engineering team, you will contribute to local strategy and growth, career development, succession planning, staff retention, hiring plans, etc. You will be expected to coordinate with the DLs and GLs for staff needs and workload planning.

As MoP, you will be driving the delivery of budgeted Gross Margin (GM) for a portfolio of projects and aligned PMs. You’ll enhance GM results though focus on change management, cash management and delivery of high-quality value-added services to our clients. You’ll also review and approve proposal/project contract documents, risk and pricing. The MoP will ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements for all projects in their portfolio and aligned PMs. You’ll partner with the Geographic and Performance Unit Financial and Project Controls leads and staff for Business Plan Forecasting and to ensure that Project estimates to completion (ETC’s)/estimates at complete (EACs) are forecasted accurately. You’ll also ensure compliance with all Project Execution Group (PEG)/Quality policies, procedures, protocols and work instructions and use of our project tools.

Key accountabilities include eliminating/reducing financial surprises, improving clarity around performance expectations, establishing focus on project performance and delivering to expectations, focus on improving gaps in margin and operations performance and drive to achieve a state of quality control rigor and consistency.

Recurring duties include:

• Mentoring and coaching of project managers, commercial managers and design managers

• Review and approval of Project Risk Register/Mitigation Plans, Project Execution Plans, and Project Quality Plans

• Conduct monthly Operational Project Reviews (OPR) on projects and document critical issues and actions

• Attend Project Administrative Reviews (PARs) as required to discuss projects within the MOP portfolio that meet PAR thresholds

• Review resourcing plans and ensure capability and capacity are in place to successfully deliver each project, in partnership with DLs and GLs.

• Ensure compliance with delivery, quality and client engagement in Polaris, including governance to sub-contract management and oversight

• Participation/leadership of Pricing Reviews for proposals

• Review accuracy of ETCs/EACs and address variances or issues with PMs

• Approve Revenue Recognition Workflows

• Provide Contract Delivery Review System (CDRS) approvals

• Cascade information related to new and updated Jacobs project delivery tools and systems to project teams within your portfolio

• Form an escalation point of contract to contractors to support the project delivery team

• Work in partnership with Department Leaders to manage end Client relationships sensitively with direct Client relationships

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

• Demonstrated deep project, design and commercial management experience

• Demonstrated strong experience in change management

• Financial experience required along with demonstrated strong commercial and business acumen

• Experience with contracts and risk management

• Experience with project execution and delivery

• An interest and drive in improving processes and ways of working

• Strong organizational, communications skills, and leadership abilities

The base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 to $180,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
