JOB TITLE: Auto Parts Counter Sales Associate
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager and Facility Supervisor
JOB TYPE: Full-time, non-exempt
LOCATION: 637 Tifft Street Buffalo, NY 14220
HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM, Saturdays as needed.
COMPENSATION: $18-20/HR, based on skills and experience.
The purpose of the Used Auto Parts Counter Sales Associate position is to respond to all customer inquiries regarding automotive used parts from walk-ins or phone calls. Record and track inquiries, to facilitate a successful sales process from start to finish. This person should develop a strong relationship with used car parts customers and junk vehicle sources. This position also plays a role in the purchasing of scrap vehicles. The Used Auto Parts Counter Sales Associate will be expected to thoroughly inspect all purchased vehicles, outdoors and in the elements (checking under the hood, checking the vehicle interior, checking the vehicle VIN number, etc.) Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Greet all customers and answer phones in a polite and timely fashion
- Oversee the automotive parts sales process from start to finish (process customer inquiries, quotes, and purchases).
- Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Resolve customer issues or concerns as necessary.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Handle cash and credit payments per procedure.
- Manage and balance a cash drawer.
- Enforce facility and yard policies.
- Upload purchased vehicles to internal inventory systems.
- Record and track customer inquiries, to facilitate a successful sales process.
- Thoroughly inspect all purchased vehicles (check under hood, checking vehicle interior, check vehicle VIN number, etc.)
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Previous automotive parts experience, ideally 1-3 years
- Have strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
- Face-paced, self-motivated individual that’s detail oriented with a strong work ethic
- Multi-line phone skills and computer skills
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Great communication skills
- Must be able to work assigned schedule
- Must be able to perform a variety of tasks in all kinds of weather/seasons
- Understanding of car auctions

- Push/pull material no more than 50 lbs. at a time.
- Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.

- Works in an office environment
- Work at a desk/counter location for extended periods of time to perform normal daily tasks.
- At times outside in the Yard where the temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain, etc.) may be encountered.
- Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes.
- Noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times, hearing protection is provided by the company at all times.
