Job Title: Healthcare Payroll Assistant

Location: New York, NY 10029

Job Type: Contract (14 Weeks)

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Payroll Assistant to support payroll and timekeeping operations within a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with payroll processing, tax regulations, and timekeeping systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for both hourly and salaried healthcare employees
• Manage timekeeping records, including retroactive pay and time adjustments
• Enter and process wage garnishments, taxes, and payroll deductions
• Review payroll transfer reports and verify benefit deductions
• Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity
• Maintain payroll records and documentation in payroll and HR systems
• Support payroll-related reporting and accounting functions
• Work across multiple systems while maintaining strict confidentiality

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of payroll and timekeeping experience (hospital/healthcare setting required)
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, including garnishments, taxes, and year-end activities
• Proven analytical skills, including retro pay calculations and time adjustments
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• High School Diploma or GED (required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
• Experience with payroll systems such as QuickBooks, Pay Choice, or Payroll Associates
• Prior experience supporting payroll operations in a healthcare environment
