Managing Director Business Development - Private Equity
We are recruiting for a Senior Business Development Executive to spearhead new client acquisition efforts within the Private Equity sector.
Our client is a specialized consulting firm that partners with private equity firms and portfolio company leadership to accelerate EBITDA performance through hands-on operational and supply chain transformation. Known for measurable impact and speed-to-value, the firm consistently delivers quantifiable improvements across complex, global organizations.
This is a high-profile opportunity for a proven professional services sales leader to join a results-oriented, high-performing team and play a pivotal role in expanding the firm's presence and impact across the private capital ecosystem.
The Opportunity
This position is ideally suited for a senior-level, consultative seller with a strong network in Private Equity and a track record of originating and closing complex, high-value consulting engagements. As the front-line revenue generator, you’ll own the go-to-market strategy and client engagement process within the PE vertical—working closely with both internal delivery experts and external C-suite decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of business development within the Private Equity segment
- Originate, develop, and manage relationships with PE operating partners, managing directors, and portfolio company executives
- Collaborate with an internal Business Development Associate for lead generation, research, and appointment setting
- Partner with senior delivery leaders to understand client pain points and craft tailored, outcome-focused solutions
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities, driving consistent growth against quarterly and annual revenue goals
- Represent the firm at key client meetings, industry events, and portfolio site visits (40–50% travel expected once fully ramped)
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in consultative sales, ideally in operations, supply chain, or transformation consulting
- Deep familiarity with the Private Equity ecosystem, including strong relationships with PE firm stakeholders and portfolio executives
- Credibility with C-suite buyers and the ability to navigate complex buying processes
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a proven ability to convey differentiated value propositions
- Self-motivated and autonomous; thrives in a remote environment with minimal oversight
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently for client-facing activities
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience selling into private equity firms that have portfolios made up of industrial, manufacturing, chemicals, aerospace, or consumer product companies
- Exposure to operational due diligence or post-acquisition transformation initiatives
- Strategic mindset with fluency in both commercial and delivery models
Compensation and Incentives
- Base Salary: Low to mid $200Ks
- Incentives: Uncapped commissions with total earnings potential of $700K to $1M+ , commensurate with performance
- Support Infrastructure: Includes a dedicated Business Development Associate, marketing resources, and solution delivery experts
Why This Role?
- Sell consulting services that deliver rapid, measurable EBITDA improvements across portfolio companies
- Access and influence senior-level decision-makers within private equity and portfolio leadership
- Benefit from strong internal delivery capabilities that enable solution differentiation and long-term client trust
- Join a dynamic, entrepreneurial culture with clear paths for growth, leadership, and substantial financial upside
