East House Foundation is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing behavioral health services in the Rochester community. Our mission is to empower individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to join our leadership team and drive our fundraising and mission advancement efforts.
Position Overview:
As the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), you will report directly to the President & CEO, overseeing the East House Foundation and collaborating with its Board. You will be responsible for managing the endowment, leading fundraising initiatives, and aligning strategies with business objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising, donor cultivation, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
- Oversee and manage the Advancement team, ensuring high standards, effective execution, and clear communication throughout the organization.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with RAUNY's goals and overall business objectives.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy across all organizational levels.
- Strategically lead the East House Foundation Board and volunteer committees engaged in resource development.
- Drive the development and execution of RAUNY's Marketing & Communications Plan, the Foundation's operations plan, and the Mission Advancement Plan.
Foundation:
- Collaborate with RAUNY's President and the East House Foundation Board to execute short and long-term fundraising goals.
- Facilitate and oversee funding requests from constituents of the East House Foundation.
Development & Fundraising:
- Establish effective fundraising practices, emphasizing major gifts and planned giving programs.
- Oversee all facets of the Advancement Department fundraising efforts, managing donations, campaigns, events, and communications.
- Assist the team in planning, executing, and assessing campaigns, focusing on relationship-based development for a quality donor experience.
- Design solicitation strategies, conduct gift research, and nurture relationships with prospective donors.
- Secure donations aligning with donor expectations, organizational goals, and IRS 501(c)3 regulations.
Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with current donors and expand the East House supporter base systematically.
- Lead proactive stakeholder communications alongside the senior leadership team.
- Manage brand platform and overall brand oversight.
- Develop a community-focused strategy to bolster the East House mission, fostering alliances and partnerships internally and externally.

Requirements:Qualifications:
Education & Training:
- BA or BS degree in business, communications, public relations, journalism, or related fields, or equivalent experience; CFRE certification strongly desired.
- Possession of a valid NYS Driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years fundraising and mission advancement leadership responsibility.
- Supervisory experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role with a nonprofit behavioral health organization.
- Demonstrated success securing major gifts and strategic leadership across all organizational levels.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to lead change, manage a fast-paced environment, and effectively handle competing priorities.
- Deep understanding of advancement best practices and laws, as well as trends in development, marketing, and communications.
