Brookville Center for Children's Services provides comprehensive services for children 5-21 years of age with intellectual and other disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and autism. Our mission is to educate and support children of all abilities.

We seek a Saturday Counselor to work in the BCCS Saturday school recreation program. You will assist the Lead Counselor in ensuring that children have structured activities planned and that activities are age and ability-appropriate. The program includes a wide range of skill enhancement through music, arts and crafts, cooking, movement dance, and indoor and outdoor play. Swimming in the outdoor pool is available during the summer months.

This position offers extra hours, additional income, and the ability to explore additional educational field opportunities!

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for the organization of an assigned group.
• Ensure the assigned group attends all scheduled activities in the particular area.
• Bring children to the nurse's office for medication at the required time.
• Maintain behavior management in homeroom and specific areas.
• Maintain a safe environment for the children and consistently account for their whereabouts.
• Create homeroom activities during inevitable area cancellations and/or when no activity is scheduled.
• Maintain open dialogue with parents, offering support and encouragement.
• Ensure each child participates in an enjoyable and appropriate experience throughout the day.
• Report all incidents to the Nurse and Program Coordinator or designee.

We require:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience working with children and special education students preferred

Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of a child/adult.
