EMT Student (Continuous Recruitment: Academy Class)
Mohawk is currently only offering Academy style EMT-B Courses, which run for approximately 7-8 weeks and meet Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. New classes start every two months and are offered year-round.
This job posting is for continuous recruitment and collection of applications. A questionnaire will ask which upcoming class date(s) the applicant is interested in.
Mohawk offers two enrollment methods:
- Students can participate in Mohawk's EMT Educational Assistance Program. Students who participate in the program receive a $562.50 per week stipend, and the class, textbook, CPR card, and other materials are FREE. Students who participate must commit to work for Mohawk Ambulance for a 1-year period beginning after the student graduates, becomes NYS certified and clears new-hire field orientation. The current full-time, driver qualified EMT pay rate is $21.25 per hour (must actually be NYS certified to earn this rate).
- Or students can pay for the EMT course in full, $2,750.00, at the beginning of the course.
Preference in the EMT Educational Assistance Program is given to prospective full-time employees, who are eligible to driver train, and are available on nights and weekends. Meaning, unless you are paying out of pocked for the course, all prospective applicants must have flexible availability on nights and weekends and must possess and maintain Class “D” New York State Driver License or higher or analogous equivalent from another jurisdiction without record of suspension or revocation in any State. Must be deemed insurable to operate an emergency vehicle.
