Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of 8+ years of substantial credit and financial analysis experience. Strong analytical ability and technical skills in accounting, financial statement and cash flow-based analysis, capital structures and debt documentation.
  • Intellectual curiosity, honesty, thoroughness, sound judgment and ability to work independently and in a team. Ensure a free exchange of perspectives in an inclusive and open-minded manner.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate clearly and succinctly verbally and in writing.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required and master’s degree preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure ratings accuracy for the assigned portfolio through rigorous and timely credit analysis. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of relevant sectors and issuers. Articulate robust credit views and make recommendations to rating committees. React promptly to new developments and market events.
  • Build rapport with management teams and the broader marketplace, communicating critical credit views that enhance Moody’s Ratings’ relevance, expand our brand and reputation as a trusted source of credit insight.
  • Publish topical, thought-leading, forward-looking, and transparent research reports.
  • Collaborate at all levels internally; coach junior associates and develop their credit skills.
  • Cultivate relationships with the highest level of professional integrity, transparency, and fairness.
  • Embrace new technologies that support efficiency and process improvement

About The Team

The US Corporate Finance Group (CFG) is hiring a VP - Senior Analyst who will manage a portfolio of high yield and investment grade corporate credits within the Basic Industries team coverage. This is a high-profile opportunity for someone who is passionate about demonstrating their credit and analytic competence while engaging with C-suite executives and the broader marketplace. The Basic Industries team within CFG covers a portfolio of companies in the chemicals, paper and forest products, metals and mining and construction industries.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $198,300.00 - $287,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
