Job Summary

The Berkeley Carroll Upper School Computer Science Department is dedicated to teaching every Upper School student the necessary digital skills and informational literacy to thrive in the 21st century and providing a pathway for interested students to build on that knowledge in advanced classes across a range of topics. Our compulsory courses teach foundational skills, and our electives, in areas such as iOS programming, music production, and ethics in technology, build on those skills. Berkeley Carroll is seeking a creative and resourceful individual to teach sections of our compulsory course, as well as sections of other courses that fit within their skillset. They will also work within the department to develop new courses, especially those in their own areas of interest and expertise. In addition, this individual will collaborate with faculty in other departments to explore opportunities for tech integration across the curriculum.

Strong candidates will also have an interest in being active members of our school community, including involvement in student life: as a grade advisor, leader of a student club, advisor to a publication, or the coach of a team.

Duties

• Teach sections of the Technology Essentials, with a focus on foundational programming concepts and digital literacy
• Act as an upper school advisor and member of the BC community
• At least a BA in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Library Science, Digital Media, Arts, or Design, Mathematics, or a related field

Requirements

• Knowledge of modern computer programming concepts
• Experience teaching high school students is preferred
