Job Description

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to safely and accurately draw blood from patients for medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
• Accurately and promptly perform data entry of patient information.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and ensure proper labeling.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Process billing information and collect payments when necessary.
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
• Provide superior customer service to all patients.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.

Essential Skills

• Phlebotomy skills, including blood draw and specimen processing.
• Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Phlebotomy certification is welcomed but not required.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience, with at least 6 months performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Possession of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with medical, laboratory, pediatric, and geriatric environments.
• Skills in using butterfly needles and drawing blood.
• Healthcare.

Work Environment

The position has locations in Albany and Latham, NY with working hours from 5PM to 9PM, Monday to Friday and Saturday 11AM-3PM. The work is conducted in a fast-paced lab setting, and candidates will be part of a large national company, providing opportunities for long-term employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
