Lead Community Organzier
CAPI's mission is to guide refugees and immigrants in their journey toward self-determination. Key organizational values are rooted in equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Today, we are an inclusive, multi-lingual and immigrant-led nonprofit serving new refugees and immigrants including Minnesota's Asian, East and West African, and Latinx communities, as well as underserved US born communities. Over 7,000 individuals are served annually across three core service areas of Basic Needs, Economic Empowerment and Civic Engagement.
The Lead Community Organizer at CAPI primarily develops and leads a member base formed and trained from the immigrant community. Through continuous outreach, community events, and 1-on-1 connection points the organizer builds up a base of members involved in advocating and creating substantial change for the prosperity of Minnesota's immigrant community. Likewise, through member input, the organizer identifies key policy to target and change, organizing campaigns around the issue area. This work includes mobilizing the member base around the issue area and campaign, rapid response work, and deep coalition work to ensure the immigrant community can achieve substantial policy change.
