Duties Description The New York State Senate is seeking applications for a motivated, organized, and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Telephone Operator in the Maintenance and Operations Department. The professional for this role will be responsible for creating a positive first impression for all visitors and employees alike. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:-Transferring incoming calls to the appropriate offices-Looking up numbers as needed for Senate staff for members of the Legislature-Providing members of the public with telephone numbers for their elected representative -Making long distance and conference calls on behalf of Senate members and staff-Notify certain Senate offices and the public the time of adjournment and when the Senators are scheduled to return to session-Connect Senators and staff with Assembly members, Commissioners, Governor's staff and other State agencies -Provide coverage for offices and forward phones as requested

Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will possess the following education, skills, and competencies:-High school degree or equivalent-Pleasant and professional telephone skills-Experience in managing a multi-line phone system

Additional Comments This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9.00AM to 5.00PM requiring evening and late hours when the Senate is in session January to June.Starting salary is $30,000 to $40,000, commensurate with experience.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to [email protected].
