The Location : Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Molecular Diagnostics Intern to join the team in this full time, paid, summer internship. This will be a full-time on site position at our location in Rensselaer, NY.

Starting Pay : $20.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range.

The Internship : In this role, the intern will learn microbial diagnostics and disinfectant efficacy testing within the health testing department; possibilities of lab techniques that will be used include aseptic technique, bacterial growth/plating, dilutions, microbial identification. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A basic background in microbiology is expected. In this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques and practices and will contribute to the development of new laboratory processes.

You can expect to do :

• Gain hands-on experience with biological research techniques, training in current SOPs as well as contributing original data to new projects.
• Assist in preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Operate equipment for sample processing.
• Perform basic lab testing under supervision, including sample-receiving, logging, processing, testing, and reporting of results.
• Ensure lab environment is clean and well-maintained, following safety protocols.
• Working with supervisors and other lab staff to support goals of project and contribute to team discussions and problem-solving.

Eligibility :
To be eligible for this opportunity you must:

• Be a current student pursuing a degree in microbiology or a related field.
• Experience in an academic microbiology lab environment as well as an understanding of basic microbiology principles is preferred.
