Computer Systems Technician

: The Cayuga Onondaga BOCES is now accepting applications for a Computer Systems Technician . This position involves responsibility for design, maintenance, and configuration of computer networks and computer systems. The Computer Systems Technician is responsible for coordinating network and workstation activities and providing a variety of staff support services, including equipment installation and maintenance of local area networks, peripherals and programming activities. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Technology Coordinator. This is a provisional Civil Service position, which means the successful candidate will need to meet the minimum requirements of the position, and take the Civil Service exam for this position, when offered. The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,320. Pay is commensurate with experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:

• (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Resource Management, Computer Technology or related field AND one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of micro- and minicomputer equipment, which shall have involved local area network administration and the installation, and maintenance of software programs; OR
• (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an associate's degree in one of the areas mentioned in "A" above AND three (3) years of experience as described in "A" above; OR
• (C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of "A" and "B" above.

NOTE: Successful completion of a three (3) credit hour course beyond the requirements in (A) in management information systems, computer science, information technology, or a closely related field may be substituted for three (3) months of appropriate experience.
