Community Liaisons / Constituent Services

The New York City Council is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Constituent Services Representatives and Community Liaisons to support operations in various locations in the five boroughs of New York City. These are public-facing roles ideal for individuals passionate about helping others, driven to solve problems, and committed to public service and social justice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Respond promptly and professionally to constituent inquiries via phone, email, mail, and in-person visits.
• Assist constituents with navigating city services and agencies.
• Conduct thorough casework follow-ups, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely resolution of constituent issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with relevant city agencies, nonprofit organizations, and service providers.
• Attend community meetings, forums, resource fairs and events to represent the Council Member and gather insights on local issues.
• Update the Council Member or designee on urgent matters requiring immediate attention or intervention.
• Support and assist in the planning and execution of community events hosted by the Council Member, ensuring successful engagement with the community.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated commitment to public service and community engagement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage with diverse community members.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
• Previous experience in customer service, social work, government, or nonprofit sectors highly desired.
• Ability to work across district and legislative offices, including downtown Manhattan, as required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or case management software helpful.
• Knowledge of New York City government structure and services is a plus.
• Written and verbal fluency in a non-English language is highly desirable but not required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.

Pay: $58,491.00 - $78,491.00 per year
