Bookkeeper to the Supervisor

The Town of Pawling is seeking to fill one (1) part-time position for a Bookkeeper to the Supervisor. This is an appointed (civil service exempt-class) position, and the successful candidate will serve at the pleasure of the elected Town Supervisor. The successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources (see below).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Prepare the annual budget with the Town Supervisor;

· Assist the Senior Account Clerk with performing budget transfers;

· Prepare the Annual Update Document (AUD) showing the Town’s financial health, operations, and compliance with accounting standards like GAAP. The document will feature financial statements, departmental analysis, and auditor's reports, acting as a comprehensive record for taxpayers and stakeholders;

· Perform the debt management function, and oversee all of the Town’s borrowing;

· Ensure all standards set forth by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) are met;

· Assist the Senior Account Clerk with any inquiries related to government finance and accounting. Act as the government finance expert for the Town.

Minimum Qualifications: Either (A) Three years of experience in the keeping or reviewing of financial records in a responsible capacity, preferably in the field of governmental accounting, and a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting;

The annual rate of pay for this position will be between $35,000 - $50,000. The schedule for this position will be flexible, but candidates should expect to work roughly 15 hours per week.
