Job Title: Phlebotomist - Jackson Heights Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist with over two years of recent experience. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with straight needle techniques and will be reliable, punctual, and possess strong communication skills. Knowledge of different color tubes and tests is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at the required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes, and accurately label them while following specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with straight needle techniques.
• Strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Familiarity with blood drawing, collection, data entry, and phlebotomy processes.
• Knowledge of outpatient procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based at the Patient Service Center in Jackson Heights, Queens. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with rotating Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmhurst, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
