Position SummaryA new high-end, membership-driven, fine dining cocktail bar in Manhattan seeks an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to serve as the operational floor leader responsible for staffing, financial performance, and exceptional service standards.
The AGM is a senior leader within the four walls, responsible for translating strategic direction into daily execution. This role ensures operational consistency, team alignment, and service excellence across every shift. The AGM supports financial performance, cultivates talent, safeguards compliance, and reinforces a culture rooted in precision and hospitality. This position is designed to grow into the General Manager position.
Through Servant Leadership, the AGM coaches, supports, and develops servers, bartenders, and other hourly team members, strengthening leadership depth and operational discipline.
The AGM works in close partnership with both the Director of Hospitality and the Managing Director to maintain cultural alignment, service standards, and financial accountability.
Leadership Responsibilities Guest Experience & Hospitality- Model highest possible hospitality standards on the floor during service.
- Ensure consistent, elevated guest experiences across all shifts.
- Support service recovery protocols and guest follow-up.
- Build relationships with members, VIPs, and repeat guests.
- Coach and develop FOH managers and supervisors.
- Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of hourly staff.
- Facilitate training and development programs.
- Conduct performance feedback and support corrective action processes.
- Reinforce accountability, professionalism, and psychological safety.
- Ensure compliance with NYC and NYS labor laws including wage and hour, scheduling, Paid Sick Leave, and anti-harassment policies.
- Support execution of the restaurant’s P&L goals.
- Monitor and manage:
- Daily labor deployment
- Inventory controls
- Food and beverage cost variances
- Cash handling and reconciliation
- Service standards
- Assist in revenue-driving initiatives through service strategy and floor execution.
- Review financial reporting and translate data into actionable shift-level improvements.
- Oversee daily service operations
- Ensure compliance with:
- NYC Department of Health regulations
- NYS SLA requirements
- Fire, building, and safety codes
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.
- Support vendor coordination and preventative maintenance programs.
- Execute scheduling, timekeeping, and labor systems.
- Support POS functionality and reporting accuracy.
- Maintain fine wine and spirits inventory and purchasing processes.
- Manage and accountability to four wall P&L
- Communicate operational updates to the Managing Director and COO with clarity and urgency.
- 3–5+ years of restaurant floor management experience (Assistant General Manager, Bar Manager, , Sommelier, Floor Manager, or equivalent).
- Experience in fine dining and high-volume craft cocktail environments.
- Strong fine dining and polished service standards experience and ability to create training and systems to support the highest level of service.
- Strong understanding of labor controls and operational cost management.
- Working knowledge of NYC and NYS regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to hospitality-first leadership.
- Ability to operationalize high standards consistently.
- Strong emotional intelligence and decision-making under pressure.
- Experience working collaboratively with culinary leadership.
- Ability to balance service excellence with operational discipline.
- Full-time, salaried role requiring flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to move throughout the restaurant for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
