The Director of Student Experiences for the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity (CEHC) directs and manages the Colleges' experiential education, internationalization, supplemental academic experiences, and professional development, and integrates CEHC's instructional spaces into the student experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for students' practical, hands-on experiences in CEHC's teaching and research labs providing students with cutting-edge technology to immerse themselves in their respective disciplines while preparing them for future technology careers. This role will collaborate extensively with faculty to plan and develop experiential learning environments for CEHC's teaching and research spaces including CEHC Makerspace, CEHC Drone Lab, CEHC Cyber Range, CEHC Game Dev Studio. This role will manage related experiences that include but are not limited to State of Grace: A celebration of Women in STEAM, Cyber competition, Game Jams, and International Women's Day.
- Leads experiential education initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students, managing internships, peer education, capstones, education abroad, and undergraduate research. Coordinate with faculty on internship courses, maintain data systems, engage with employers, and oversee "semester-in" programs and non-internship applied learning opportunities. Oversee all undergraduate courses related to applied learning, including internships, community service, capstones, and research. Develop pipelines for cohorts of students into applied learning experiences, i.e., internships, semester-in, and study abroad.
- Through collaboration with the Career and Professional Development Office, leads CEHC in developing opportunities for graduating students, managing employer engagement, recruitment events, career workshops, and professional development for on-campus and online students.
- Through close collaboration with the Center for International Education and Global Strategy, manage and identify CEHC travel abroad experiences and international partnerships, including MOUs with METU and SKKU, hosting cohort of adult learners from Korea, and international research experiences for students.
- Represents CEHC by delivering clear, professional presentations to employers, alumni, faculty, students and external partners on experiential learning initiatives, workforce partnerships, and student career outcomes.
- Work with Advancement on proposals to fund student experiences and sponsor related events. Build and support CEHC Advisory Board member relationships. Oversee graduate assistants in conjunction with department chairs and vice dean.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
- Supervised by: Vice Dean, CEHC
- Supervises the following positions: Experiential Learning and Future Pathways Coordinator (2), Student Engagement Coordinator, and Alumni and Partnerships Coordinator
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience with collaborative team initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to translate between faculty research needs, student interest, and curricular requirements
- Ability to work with external partners to develop relationships and pipelines
- Informed and contemporary understanding of innovations in technology, cybersecurity, emergency management, homeland security and information science
- Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- 3+ years of full-time experience working in higher education, such as experiential learning, student success and/or retention, academic quality and innovation, or community or industry engagement
- 2+ years of experience organizing and managing events
- Demonstrated experience with applied learning and partnership development
- Demonstrated experience organizing and running events
- Demonstrated experience presenting to professional audiences, including colleagues, faculty, graduate students, advisors and related audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- Experience supervising professional staff
- Experience raising financial support
- Direct experience with EAB, Slate and/or Peoplesoft products
Working Environment:
- Typical office environment
- Nights and weekend required, as necessary
- Must have the ability to reliably travel to and from assigned site visit locations

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Staff Associate, SL-4, $72,000 - $75,000
