Marketing Director
Our client, a global commercial financial services firm, is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead the company's marketing, communications, and business development support efforts across multiple business lines. This role is ideal for a strategic yet hands-on marketing leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and enjoys balancing high-level strategy with day-to-day execution. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this individual will be responsible for elevating brand visibility, supporting revenue-generating initiatives, driving content and digital marketing efforts, and overseeing client engagement programs.
- This is a full-time position based in New York City. Salary range $150-180k
Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy & Brand Positioning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with company growth objectives and business priorities.
- Strengthen market positioning across commercial finance, lending, risk management, insurance, technology, and related financial services offerings.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging, visual identity, and positioning across all marketing and communications channels.
- Partner with business leaders to support product positioning, campaign development, and client engagement initiatives.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to inform marketing strategy and business development efforts.
Business Development & Sales Enablement
- Partner closely with business development and sales teams to support revenue growth initiatives.
- Develop and maintain sales collateral, pitch materials, presentations, case studies, one-pagers, and other client-facing assets.
- Support outreach campaigns targeting prospects, referral partners, clients, and strategic partners.
- Translate complex financial products and solutions into clear, compelling messaging for target audiences.
- Support cross-selling initiatives by developing materials that communicate the full value of the company's platform and services.
Content, Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Lead content strategy and execution across digital channels, including website, email marketing, social media, thought leadership, and client communications.
- Develop and execute social media initiatives that increase awareness, engagement, and market visibility.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify thought leadership opportunities, customer success stories, market insights, and product updates.
- Oversee the creation of written and visual content, including presentations, graphics, videos, and digital marketing assets.
Events, PR & Communications
- Lead the planning and execution of conferences, trade shows, webinars, client events, and sponsorship activations.
- Manage event marketing efforts, including invitations, collateral, communications, follow-up campaigns, and reporting.
- Support public relations initiatives, including press releases, company announcements, executive communications, award submissions, and media opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for thought leadership, speaking engagements, industry recognition, and brand visibility.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all external communications and public-facing materials.
Marketing Operations & Analytics
- Monitor and report on marketing performance across digital, email, social, event, and lead-generation channels.
- Utilize analytics and performance data to optimize campaigns and improve marketing effectiveness.
- Support CRM management, audience segmentation, reporting, and contact database integrity.
- Manage marketing calendars, campaign timelines, budgets, vendors, and external agency relationships.
- Establish processes and structure to support a growing and evolving marketing function.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Human Resources on employer branding, recruitment marketing, and employee communications.
- Collaborate across leadership, sales, technology, operations, and external partners to ensure successful execution of marketing initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted marketing advisor across the organization, providing strategic guidance and ensuring brand consistency.
- Lead and mentor a small marketing team while fostering collaboration and accountability.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, business development, or related disciplines.
- Experience within financial services, commercial finance, fintech, lending, insurance, professional services, or other complex B2B industries.
- Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills with the ability to simplify complex financial or technical concepts.
- Proven experience developing integrated marketing campaigns, sales collateral, digital content, social media programs, and client communications.
- Experience with CRM platforms, email marketing tools, digital analytics, and marketing technology solutions.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting conferences, trade shows, webinars, and client events.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms, and social media management tools.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Canva, or related creative software.
- Background in commercial lending, asset-based lending, trade credit insurance, factoring, or fintech environments.
- Experience managing direct reports and external agency partners.
