This role is responsible for inspecting and monitoring construction activities across multiple project sites to ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.

The Inspector works closely with program managers, superintendents, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to document progress, identify issues, and help ensure projects are completed according to scope, schedule, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily field inspections of construction work across multiple project sites.
  • Monitor contractor performance and verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Review material deliveries and installed work for quality and compliance.

  • Identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, and potential safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
  • Assist in tracking project milestones, punch list items, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with program managers, superintendents, contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve field issues.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates regarding project status and site observations.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Ensure work adheres to industry standards, safety requirements, and SCA expectations.
  • Shift & Location Requirements
  • Inspectors typically work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, either first shift, second shift, or a combination of both.
  • Must be available to work additional hours Monday–Friday, often with short notice.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as required by the program.
  • Work locations may be in any of the five NYC boroughs; inspectors must be available to work at any assigned location.

Here's what you'll need

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a construction related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in construction inspection, field monitoring, or project oversight on building, infrastructure, renovation, modernization, or capital improvement projects
  • Must be capable of providing clear, concise, written, and oral communication
  • Experience working on public sector, school, municipal, or capital construction projects
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • NICET, ICC, or other construction inspection certifications
  • Experience with quality assurance/quality control programs
  • Familiarity with NYC building codes and regulatory requirements

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Construction inspection & field monitoring experience
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills
  • Follow the safety requirements as per the NYCDOB/OSHA and SCA safety Manual.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment
