Sous Chef

Soho Grand Hotel is seeking a strong, organized Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team. This is a hands-on role within a high-volume, multi-outlet hotel kitchen, supporting breakfast, lunch, dinner, in-room dining, and a robust private events program that is central to the operation.

Working closely with the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine, the Sous Chef will help drive consistency, organization, and accountability across all areas of the kitchen, including day-to-day service and event execution. This role requires someone equally comfortable running a busy line and coordinating the planning, production, and execution of events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale functions.

This position is best suited for a cook-turned-leader who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment, takes pride in organization and standards, and is confident managing both people and systems. The ideal candidate is looking to grow within a professional hotel setting, with exposure to multiple outlets and a dynamic events program.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily service across multiple outlets, ensuring food is executed consistently, efficiently, and to spec
• Oversee production, prep, and line readiness for all meal periods
• Maintain strong organization and discipline in all areas of the kitchen
• Manage ordering, inventory, and scheduling in line with budget targets
• Train and develop line cooks, setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable
• Work closely with FOH leadership to ensure smooth, professional service
• Uphold and exceed NYC Department of Health standards at all times
• Support a positive, respectful kitchen culture while maintaining high performance standards
• Oversee daily family meal and contribute to overall team morale

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years experience in a Sous Chef or similar leadership role in a high-volume kitchen
• Strong foundation in culinary technique and kitchen systems
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
• Confident leading teams and giving clear, direct feedback
• Experience with ordering, inventory, and cost control
• NYC Food Protection Certificate required
• Comfortable with scheduling, basic admin, and kitchen systems
• Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
