Food & Customer Service is our focus – we give a fork! As a member of our Kitchen Team, you’re an important part of the guest experience: often the friendly face behind the counter! You’ll prepare and serve food with care, keep the kitchen and service areas clean and organized, and help m aintain smooth, fast service. Kitchen team members are trained to handle multiple roles to support both back-of-house prep and guest-facing service, ensuring every meal meets Farmer J’s h igh standards for quality and hospitality.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items quickly and accurately following Farmer J’s recipes and standards

• Serve guests with friendliness and attention when working at the counter

• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times , including proper handwashing and safe food handling

• Keep workstations, prep areas, and service counters clean, stocked, and organized

• Assist with receiving and checking deliveries for quality and accuracy

• Rotate stock properly using FIFO to ensure freshness and reduce waste

• Communicate clearly and courteously with front of house team and guests

• Handle guest requests and questions about menu items with confidence and care

• Support team members by pitching in on cleaning and closing duties as needed

• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies strictly

• Maintain proper portion control and presentation of all food served

• Stay flexible and ready to support other roles during busy times to keep service running smoothly

Qualifications

• 1 year cooking in high-volume, high-quality fast-casual or café-style restaurants

• Comfortable using tools like Toast, Microsoft Office, and other basic systems

• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards

• Appreciation for real food: scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and sustainable practices

• Clear, positive communicator with a team-first mindset

• Calm under pressure and quick to adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English

• Follow written and verbal instructions and have basic math and computer skills

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business requi re
