Accounting Associate

Location: Syracuse, NY

Reports to: Accounts Payable Supervisor / Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry-Level Accounting Associate to join our Finance team, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable. The ideal candidate will support daily invoice processing, vendor communication, and ensure timely and accurate payments. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or individuals starting their accounting career to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review, verify, and process incoming invoices and employee expense reports

• Ensure proper approvals, coding, and documentation are in place before payments

• Match purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices (3-way matching)

• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers

• Maintain accurate vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries promptly

• Assist with month-end closing by reconciling accounts payable transactions

• Help maintain organized and complete files for audit and compliance purposes

• Assist with year-end 1099 preparation and reporting

• Support other accounting team functions as needed

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or currently pursuing)

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) is a plus
