Junior Sous Chef
Leland Eating and Drinking House seeking talented junior sous chefs to join our team. This position is a unique opportunity for line chefs looking to take the next step in their career. You must want to hone your skills and be able to teach others by leading by example. The ideal candidate enjoys working with teams, are goal motivated, open to learning different and new skills, brings compassion to the team, has a good understanding of handmade healthy cuisine, and loves to feed people.
Located in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood, Leland Eating and Drinking House promotes sustainable hand-made cuisine while supporting local farms, creating natural and healthy food without forgoing flavor. The culinary team is responsible for daily bread program, handmade pasta, in-house fermentations, fish butchery and nose to tail animal butchery. We are looking for someone who is eager to be a teammate amongst professionals, help create positive culture and become a student who learns alongside the team. If you are a chef with a big ego, are too good to wash dishes or have issues with controlling your temper please do not apply.General requirements:
- Motivated, hard working, enthusiastic, team player
- Strong knowledge and interest in food and beverage
- Passion to reduce waste, recycling and composting
- Availability to work days, nights, and weekends
- NYC Food Protection Certificate Card Holder
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Sense of humor and positive attitude
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation guidelines of NYDOH and maintain a letter A grade
