Job Title: Fifth Grade Teacher (Grade 5 - ELA Departmentalized)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate and instruct students including small group center based instruction;

· Instruct students based on the REACH curriculum and utilize available instructional technologies in the classroom;

· Regularly evaluate student performance, and monitor for achievement of state standards;

· Act as a role model by making your students feel motivated while maintaining an approachable personality;

· Regularly communicate with parents and legal guardians regarding child's performance, track and record student progress and

keep records up to date for progress reports and report card conferences;

· Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times;

· Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks;

· Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity;

· Submit lesson plans and unit plans in a timely manner;

· Actively participate in all professional development and coaching sessions as well as weekly team planning;

· Incorporate feedback from coaches in a timely manner;

· Consistently analyze scholar data and engage in self-reflection on practices;

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

Teachers must hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in their subject area or be eligible for reciprocity to include (1) Minimum Bachelor's degree in subject area to be taught, Master's Degree preferred; (2) Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred ; (3) Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy; (4) Valid New York State Certification, except in cases where the Head of School shall make an exception under the terms of this Policy, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Salary- REACH Academy Charter School has a salary scale in place. Your salary step will depend on your prior years of experience and certification. A first-year teacher with no experience but has their certification will start at $45,000. A teacher on step 10 which is the most prior credit we can give is $65,830. First 40 days will be at the substitute rate of $160.00/per day. Then the positon will become step and beneifts will be offered.
