Job Summary
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Technologist to support our production and development teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow in a technical business environment. You’ll assist with customer communications, manufacturing process development, and product development
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to customer technical inquiries via phone and email
- Able to evaluate current manufacturing processes including electroplating, vacuum deposition, mechanical rolling, and thin foil assembly and innovate these processes where possible to improve product quality, improve production efficiency and reduce costs where possible.
- Develop and optimize XRF calibration models and recipes to achieve highest levels of accuracy possible for production staff.
- Able to develop master calibration standards independently using various analytical techniques such as XRF, ICP, gravimetric and others to evaluate resulting data using basic descriptive and inferential statistics methods including curve fitting methods, regression analysis and data correlations.
- Support management with costs associated with all products, especially new and/or custom-made products to facilitate customer pricing
- Support ISO 17025 quality system, especially with respect to creating annual interlaboratory and proficiency testing schemes and resulting reports once the testing data has been collected.
- Provide tech support and troubleshooting to production staff to resolve production issues as needed.
- Support production of specialized, custom standards including use of vacuum deposition, electrochemical setups and mechanical rolling, to create non-standard coatings, foils, thicknesses and alloy compositions requested by customers.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in materials science, analytical chemistry or related physical sciences preferred
- Good “people skills” with pleasant, customer friendly demeanor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Familiar with some spectrometric methods, particularly XRF. Any experience with ICP helpful but will train as needed.
- Knowledgeable in basic descriptive and inferential statistics. Familiarity with any additional statistics software applications helpful.
- Must enjoy working with numbers; able to evaluate datasets
- Organized, dependable, and eager to learn
- Ability to work independently and be productive with minimal supervision.
- Experience with vacuum deposition a plus.
