Distribution Center Operations Associate

A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation business is seeking a Distribution Center Operations role involves receiving, scanning, accurately sorting and staging customer packages for distribution to and from lockers and partner facilities. All packages (both deliveries and pick-ups/sends will be scanned and logged into the MGMT system upon receipt into the Distribution Center. The role of this position also includes coordinating delivery and pick-up of packages using independent contractors, vendor/partners and/or our drivers. The Associate may also handle customer service requests and troubleshooting package issues while in the Distribution
Part-time position 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities :
- Receive, sort, process inbound packages from carriers and partners
- Process, sort outbound packages for carriers and partners
- Utilize MGMT system to scan, log, label, and create a complete chain of custody for all packages
- Liaison between vendors, contractors and drivers for the same day delivery and pick-up of packages
- Research and respond to customer service inquiries such as lost or unknown package issues
- Directs routine and special (i.e., oversize) deliveries
- Monitor the flow of packages, supply inventory, delivery times.
- Hand-off communication of pending package dispositions or open items between different operational shifts.
- Ensure production, accuracy, and inventory of packages to meet objectives
- Identify and recommend process improvements.
- Prepares basic reports
- Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement
- Participates in all aspects of distribution, warehousing and delivery activities
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications :
- Experience within the logistics, transportation and warehousing industry.
- High school degree required.
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
- Basic PC skills
- Skills in distribution center practices and logistics
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
