Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The Schultz Group of Companies is hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support our growing operations. As a leader in the heavy civil construction industry, we deliver complex infrastructure projects in transportation, water/wastewater, site development, and utilities. Location: Ballston Spa, NY (with occasional travel to job sites within a 1.5 to 2.5-hour radius of Albany, NY)

Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, skid steers, and wheel loaders.
• System Troubleshooting
  Identify and repair issues with electrical systems, hydraulics, engines, powertrains, and other mechanical components.
• Diagnostic Technology
  Use computer-based diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment control and monitoring systems.
• Welding & Fabrication
  Apply basic welding and torch-cutting skills for disassembly and assembly work.
• Reporting & Documentation
  Complete digital service reports, inspection forms, time entries, and warranty documentation accurately and on time.
• Safety Compliance
  Maintain a safe and clean work environment, follow all PPE requirements, and promptly report any safety concerns or equipment damage.
• Support Tasks
  Perform additional shop or field duties as needed between assignments.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience:
  Proven hands-on experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment.
• Licensing:
  Valid CDL-B license and an active DOT medical card required.
• Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Professional and respectful attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and clients
