Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/PCU)

Location: Utica, NY

Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)

Schedule: Day Shift | 3x12 Hours

Shift Timing: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/PCU) . The RN will care for adult patients with complex cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-operative conditions, ensuring close monitoring and timely interventions in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with cardiac, neuro, respiratory, trauma, and post-operative conditions
• Monitor patient status, including cardiac rhythms, neurological changes, and respiratory function
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies per physician orders
• Operate and manage specialized equipment such as chest tubes, arterial lines (A-lines), BiPAP, and temporary pacemakers
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy to care for patients on chronic ventilators
• Accurately document patient care in EPIC EMR
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Unit Overview

• Patient Population: Adults (18+)
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Neurological conditions
  • Cardiac conditions (MI, CV step-down)
  • Respiratory conditions (COPD)
  • Trauma
  • DKA, Sepsis
  • Post-operative care
• Specialized Equipment:
  • Temporary pacemakers
  • Chest tubes
  • Arterial lines (A-lines)
  • BiPAP
  • Neptune Vapo

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of IMCU/PCU experience
• Prior travel experience (required)
• Experience with EPIC EMR
• Willingness to float as needed

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS
• NIHSS
