About This Role
The Teacher Assistant role requires collaboration and teamwork to create a nurturing environment for children and support staff in delivering a high-quality educational program. Key responsibilities include implementing curricula activities, engaging in classroom activities, maintaining cleanliness, and fostering positive relationships with parents. Under the guidance of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant designs and implements developmentally appropriate activities that cater to children's interests and needs.
What You'll Do- Support the development and implementation of curricula activities, encouraging children's participation and engagement.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-equipped classroom environment.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents through regular updates and informal discussions.
- Model and promote self-help and good hygiene practices among the children.
- Adhere to all center policies and state regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant environment.
- Must be able to use positive techniques to guide children’s behavior
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Communicate, in a professional manner, with families and co-workers
- Ability to encourage children to make choices and become more responsible
- Team oriented approach to problem solving
- Be responsible, reliable, and dependable
- Clear, direct, communication style (both written and oral)
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Frequently lift, move or hold weight from 10-40 pounds. Occasionally lift, move or hold weight more than 40 pounds.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Ability to perform job: full range of motion to lift, squat and sit.
A thorough understanding of OCFS regulations and NAEYC Standards is beneficial for providing high-quality care and education.
