Camper Transportation Logistics Coordinator

Deer Mountain Day Camp is looking for a candidate with strong organizational, managerial and customer service skills to manage and coordinate the communication and trouble any issues that arise while staff members and campers are traveling on DMDC vehicles to and from camp. This role is an in person role which is located at our camp in Pomona, New York.

WE WILL TRAIN you to:

• Learn existing daily am and pm bus routes
• Print and distribute weekly bus routes to drivers and bus counselors, who supervise each of our buses
• Manage a staff of bus counselors who supervise each vehicle
• Manage all information and paperwork associated with bus counselor position
• Ensure open, two-way communication between bus companies, camp leadership, and parents regarding any transportation concerns
• Manage relationships with transportation vendors including bus companies and drivers; ensure that bussed campers get to and from camp every day, safely and on time; and ensure a positive camper experience
• Coordinate with bus companies to ensure that the routes are properly executed
• Partner with camp leadership and transportation vendors to troubleshoot logistics issues and ensure resolution in a timely manner
• Coordinate all daily changes to the routes
• Field calls from camp parents and resolve any issues with, or changes to transportation
• Oversee out-of-camp trip buses and shuttles
• Execute a program of activities to keep campers engaged while traveling

Applicant has a:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Hospitality, Marketing, Psychology or Education
• 3 to 5 years of camp experience or experience working with children and families
• Comfortable learning camp and routing software
• Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to multi-task
• A strong work ethic as well as an ability to remain flexible and calm under pressure
• A driver's license and knowledge of the areas in which our campers live

Pre-season Start/May and June Hours:

• Seasonal position, immediate start available
• Opportunity for full time work from date of start (M to F, 9 am to 5 pm) or flexibility to start with a part-time schedule

Camp Season Date and Hours:

• 2024 Camp Dates: Thursday, June 27th to Thursday, August 22nd
• Hours During Camp Season: Monday to Friday 7:00 am to when all buses clear (generally 6:00pm)
• Daily Breakfast and Lunch Provided

About Deer Mountain:

• Deer Mountain Day Camp is located in Pomona, NY, just off exit 13 of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. We are also 10 minutes from the border of Bergen County, NJ. We serve campers ranging in age from 3 to 15 who come from Rockland, Bergen, Orange and Westchester Counties, New York City, Hoboken and Jersey City. Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation to camp.
