About The Team And The Role

The eBay Foundation exists to unleash the power of entrepreneurship and build economically vibrant and thriving communities. And, we’ve been doing it since 1998. Since 2021, eBay Foundation has embarked on a new strategic vision that will significantly increase our level of impact. From supporting organizations that give entrepreneurs the business know-how they need, to creating connections or providing the capital to start and grow their businesses — our strategy focuses on addressing and removing barriers that limit entrepreneurship for historically excluded communities.

By engaging with, and learning from the experts working in the field, we think about our approach in three broad categories: Provide access to resources, break down inhibitors to scale and participate in long-term systemic solutions. It is our aim to show up as trusted partners to the nonprofits and communities we serve, so it is critical that we act with intention and humility in everything — from our grantmaking to board representation and governance.

The eBay Foundation is responsible for setting the philanthropic strategy for eBay Inc, along with managing and inspiring employee connection to and participation in programs, such as matching gifts and Changemakers. We work closely with senior leadership, including the eBay Foundation Board of Directors and have high visibility in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking to hire a Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships who will help guide the development of the Foundation’s strategy and continue to bring it to life. Working in partnership with Foundation leadership and the team, this includes managing relationships with existing grantees, researching and evaluating potential grantees, evolving our measurement philosophy, bringing partners together in ways that facilitate real conversation and community and helping us better tell the story of these partnerships internally and externally.

This is a fit for you if you are a strategic thinker who understands trust-based philanthropy, are comfortable in ambiguity, have excellent project management skills and can maintain strong attention to detail without losing the big picture. Within this role, you will have the ability to influence key elements of our strategy and help craft the future of the eBay Foundation.

This role will be located in San Jose, CA or remote-based. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the head of the eBay Foundation.

What You Will Accomplish

• Guides development and execution of grantmaking strategy and portfolio. Manages current grantees as main point of contact for strategic grantee portfolio – and recommends new grantees – who are breaking down inhibitors to scale and working on long-term systemic solutions.
• Continue to develop Disaster Response grantmaking strategy, in alignment with Corp response strategy.
• Works closely with peers in developing metrics strategy and evaluation processes, including selecting and managing supporting vendors, as needed
• Participates in meaningful, ongoing learning; identifies and creates storytelling opportunities internally and externally
• Develops and maintains accountability on grantee due diligence and principals of Trust Based Philanthropy that we are leading with

What You Will Bring

• 10+ years experience, with at least 5 years in grantmaking
• Well-versed in entrepreneur development and the nonprofit ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs, with a solid understanding of the challenges that entrepreneurs face
• Experienced presenter who can represent the eBay Foundation internally and externally
• Has strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks and work efficiently under deadlines

The applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location. The base pay range in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro and Seattle Metro is expected in the range below:

$162,000 - $216,300

The base pay range for all other U.S. work locations is expected in the range below:

$123,600 - $198,100

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
